Georgia Tech Student Center Acoustical Design

POH+W Architects was engaged to develop acoustical design solutions to improve sound quality throughout the Georgia Tech John Lewis Student Center. The team conducted a comprehensive site visit and identified priority spaces where acoustical performance could be significantly improved.

Strategic integration of acoustical materials transformed these spaces into more comfortable and engaging environments for students, staff, and visitors. Custom panel configurations using triangular and diamond shapes were arranged into a hexagonal pattern inspired by Georgia Tech’s brand identity, creating a cohesive visual language throughout the building.

Acoustical treatments were tailored to each space based on surface conditions and material performance and are being implemented in phases to minimize disruption to ongoing building operations.
