CarMax Nationwide Refresh Program

Since the CarMax Refresh program began in 2014, POH+W Architects has successfully designed over 100 stores across 28 states. The program’s reach spans much of the country, with California leading at 13 stores, followed by Texas with 12 and Florida with 11.

POH+W Architects originally designed the majority of these stores and is now leading their redesign as part of the national Refresh program. These renovations realign the stores with CarMax’s newest prototypes, ensuring a consistent brand feel and aesthetic across the entire portfolio. Stores are thoughtfully reconfigured to better support today’s business needs while enhancing the customer experience through targeted improvements to the lobby, sales floor, waiting areas and restrooms. Each project maintains a strong focus on key customer contact points.
